Virtually all of the major OHV manufacturers make kids gas ATVs. Honda, Can-Am, Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Kawasaki all offer youth ATVs, but none of them have any youth side by sides available.
Currently, Polaris is the only major manufacturer that makes youth side by side models.
They offer a utility SxS as well as a youth version of the sport RZR.
Honda does have a couple Pioneer 500 models available, but this is still a powerful vehicle only appropriate for youth 16+.
Besides Polaris, the only other manufacturers out there making youth SxS, are off brands and go kart manufacturers. In some instances, these models may be cheaper, but buyer beware, the quality may be lacking.
Youth Side By Side Models
Polaris Ranger 150 EFI
Starts @ $6,300
Any kid would love this vehicle, it’s a kid size version of Polaris’ adult model.
Designed for children 10 and older, this isn’t a toy type ATV, this is a gas SxS with 150cc of power. It has a total payload capacity of 375 lbs and the box has a 50 lb capacity.
Polaris is taking child safety to the next level with their all new ‘Helmet Aware Technology’. This technology features an attachable Bluetooth beacon that syncs up with the two helmets that come included with the vehicle. It can be set so that the vehicle won’t start if the kids aren’t wearing helmets.
Parents can set up additional parental controls using the youth ‘Ride Control’ using the ‘Ride Command’ mobile app. With Ride Control, parents can set up geo-fencing, speed limiting and location tracking.
Vehicle also includes a password protected start, so that children won’t be able to start the vehicle on their own. A safety flag also comes with the vehicle for improved visibility.
Includes a digital display with a speedometer, odometer, gear indicator, trip meter, voltage, engine temperature, engine hour interval and engine RPM. These gauges help young riders self monitor their vehicle while driving to become safer, more aware operators.
Although this is a child size SxS, it’s still fairly wide with a 48″ width stance for stability. 8″ of ground clearance keeps young riders from scraping bottom.
An adjustable driver’s seat with tilt steering can accommodate riders of all sizes. Of course, it also includes seat belts!
Polaris RZR 200 EFI
Starts @ $6,800
Check out this fierce little machine. This youth RZR has 180cc of power, 24″ aggressive tires, LED headlights and taillights and dual front A-arms. Perfect for pint size adventurers 10+ years old.
Parents have a variety of controls at their fingertips to keep their young riders safe.
Polaris just rolled out ‘Helmet Aware Technology that pairs up the two helmets that come included to a Bluetooth beacon in the vehicle. This means that the vehicle won’t start if the kids aren’t wearing the helmets.
Parents can also use the ‘Ride Control’ app to activate youth ‘Ride Control’ features such as geo-fencing, speed limiting and location tracking. Geo-fencing allows parents to set up ride boundaries with speed limits for both within and outside the geo-fenced area. It also comes with location tracking for added piece of mind.
The vehicle can also be set up with a password protected start, so that kids can’t start it without supervision.
This youth RZR comes with hard doors and safety nets, but can also be set up with additional add ons such as a roof, windshield, brush guards and rock sliders for additional protection.
