Popular with locals, this riding area 15 miles east of Butte makes for a great offroad weekend.

A bit off the tourist track compared to some of the more well known areas of Montana, this area still gets a fair bit of use due to its close proximity to Butte and all it has to offer.

Trails take you through forested terrain in the lovely rolling hills of the region. Camp alongside a lake, ride a trail by a stream, visit a historic cabin and check out the unique ringing rocks.

The ringing rocks are a unique geological feature. If you tap on a rock with a hammer, it creates a unique ringing sound.

Portions of the riding area are on both BLM land and Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

Located on over 30,000 acres, this riding area offers mostly easy riding on hard packed dirt.

Plenty of parking is available at the three main staging areas: Four Corners, Delmoe Lake and Lower Pipestone Parking Area.

Personally, I say snag a sweet camping spot on the shores of Delmoe Lake with easy ride in/ride out trail access. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Pipestone Motorcycle Hill Climb Area

The hill climb area isn’t very big, but it’s fun for a run or two. It’s a couple of small, but fairly steep sandy hills with a dozen or so approaches.
